This ‘naked’ lovebird from Boston is an Internet sensation

Rhea the "naked" lovebird. Isabella Eisenmann

A “naked” lovebird from Boston is a rising star on Instagram.

Rhea, a 2-year-old bird with the rare Psittacine beak and feather disease, has her own Instagram account with more than 60,000 followers, reports The Boston Globe. Isabella Eisenmann, 23, Rhea’s owner, posts videos as well as photos of the unusual bird with the big personality. In one photo, the bird is sporting a “Donald Trump-ish” wig.

Rhea’s disease renders her featherless and so Eisenmann has to keep her house “ridiculously hot” all day to keep the bird warm. Rhea can’t be with other birds because her condition is highly contagious among fellow feathered friends. But she can be with dogs, and has become pals with Eisenmann’s pooch named Nickie, a Yorkie.

Eisenmann found out about Rhea through Nickie’s Back Bay veterinarian, who was trying to find a loving home for the bird.

“I’m a huge animal lover,” Eisenmann told the Globe. “I knew I could help her.”

Eisenmann said Rhea has inspired people to message her from all over the world.
