Dartmouth police capture 6-foot boa constrictor
Dartmouth police encountered a warm-blooded, slithering invader on Saturday night. In a Facebook post entitled “DPD Goes Wild!!!”, police announced they had captured a six-foot-long boa constrictor on Memorial Avenue. The police department declared: “WE CAPTURED A BOA CONSTRICTOR IN DARTMOUTH TONIGHT!!!” According to the post, Dartmouth’s police and fire departments helped place the snake in the town’s animal control officer’s custody. Accompanying the post is a video of the reptile crawling along the street. Police believe the boa probably escaped from its owner.“Because we strongly doubt that it crawled all the way here from Florida, we are assuming that it is an escaped pet,” police wrote.

The boa constrictor caught in Dartmouth.
Dartmouth police also gave a nod to fellow police officers in Quincy, where a rattlesnake was found and captured outside a home.
“Just because we wanted to outdo Quincy, who just recently encountered a rattlesnake,” Dartmouth police said in the post, “we went ahead and captured a boa constrictor…”
Police encouraged anyone with helpful information about the reptile’s owner to call Dartmouth police at (508) 910-1700.
