This bald eagle in Maine will remind you about the harshness of nature
A Maine webcam caught an adult bald eagle stealing a nearly full-sized osprey chick from its nest in a video the National Audobon Society posted to its Facebook on Tuesday.

The video, taken by Explore.org’s Hog Island osprey camera located off the coast of Bremen, was viewed almost 400,000 times and shared by more than 6,400 users.
Steve Kress, vice president for bird conservation at the National Audubon Society, told the Portland Press Herald that the video is “one of the best videos of eagle predation he’s ever seen.”
“We were all very surprised because I don’t think anybody has ever documented an eagle taking an essentially full-grown osprey chick out of a nest,” Kress told the Press Herald. “That is one of the great things about these cameras because they are giving us insight into what is happening on these nests.”
The Society posted a second video Wednesday of the surviving chicks “exercising their wings.”
