The Millis Police Department wants you to know — you weren’t seeing things if you spotted a large reptile crossing the road on July 1.

A 4-foot iguana, which escaped from its cage, was spotted by a driver near the intersection of Spencer and Pleasant streets that afternoon. Police said  Millis Animal Control and officers arrived at the scene, they found the runaway settled in a tree, 80 feet from the ground.

The fire department and Animal Rescue League of Boston were contacted to help capture and return the wandering reptile to its owner.
