The Animal Rescue League of Boston (ARL) and Westport police are looking for more information about a severely matted dog rescued in Westport on Sunday.
The matted dog, now known as “Jersey,” was found wandering near Sanford Road and Milk Avenue with no collar or identification, according to the ARL.
The Brussels Griffin mix is thought to be around 8 years old. The ARL said Jersey will undergo enucleation surgery on Friday, which will render her permanently blind. She is also expected to have bladder stones removed and significant dental treatments—all of which will cost between $3,000-$4,000, according to the ARL.
Police are asking anyone with information about the lost or abandoned dog to call Westport police at 508-636-1122 or the ARL’s Law Enforcement Department at 617-226-5610.
