A dog named Murphy got stuck on a roof in Charlton
It looks like the stereotype of firefighters rescuing cats from high places has gone to the dogs.
The Charlton police and fire departments responded on Mother’s Day to help a canine off a roof on Burns Lane.

Police said Murphy pushed his way through a second story window onto the roof of a porch and jumped over onto the adjoining garage roof.

Neighbors spotted the stranded pup and comforted him until the fire department’s new tower truck arrived after an attempt to help Murphy down on a slide didn’t work.

First responders lowered Murphy down to safety using the truck’s ladder.

Charlton police said Murphy’s is the first official rescue for the fire department’s newest piece of equipment.
