Hi Meredith,
I met a guy three months ago online. He said he was kind of crazy about me. He lives in NYC, and I live in Boston. Because he is busy, he asked me to visit him many times. When I went to NYC, we stayed at a hotel. He never invited me to his apartment – and I never asked to see it. But every time he comes to Boston, he requests to come to my place. But because I haven’t seen his place, I tell him he can’t come over because of my roommate.
He eventually became angry with me because of this – he said it was rude. I reminded him that I’ve never been to his apartment. He said, “If you want to, sure, you can come over.” But when I went to NYC, I was at the hotel again, and he couldn’t even stay the night with me. His excuse was, “I have to get up early to prepare for a breakfast meeting.” I was not happy about this. Can’t you prepare while you sleep over?
Plus, he said he needed to change clothes, but why wouldn’t he just take me home? His response was that he didn’t want to make me feel unsafe, going to a stranger’s home. This is so confusing to me. Is he playing games with me? Should I keep contact with him? I am really into him. And he said I’m the only girl he’s seeing.

A few possibilities here.
1. He is Superman. He can’t bring you home because he must protect his identity.
2. He is Batman. (See above.)
3. He is married/in a serious relationship.
4. His apartment is an embarrassing mess. Or he is dealing with an infestation. (Bed bugs, cockroaches, etc.)
5. He lives with his mom.
My money’s on 3. Please drop this man and find someone who will take you home. Even Batman brings women back to Wayne Manor when he can. Why would you stay with someone who makes it clear that he has something to hide?
Readers? Thoughts?

Is his name Don Draper? Because it might not be his real name.
