Dairy Queen looking at possible return to Vermont
BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) — Dairy Queen is examining potential locations to make its return to Vermont, the only state currently without a franchise of the soft serve ice cream chain.
Jim Kerr, Dairy Queen’s vice president of franchise development, tells The Burlington Free Press that the company is in talks with several potential franchisees in the Burlington area.
The 75-year-old company had locations on Burlington’s North Winooski Avenue and in the food court of the University Mall in South Burlington up until the past couple of years.
Kerr says there are 15 to 20 possible locations in the state as a whole, and he believes Burlington could support about five franchises.
Last year, Dairy Queen opened 84 new restaurants nationally. The company has more than 6,700 locations worldwide.
