Clover’s first food truck will serve its last meal at its original location

This October would have been the truck's eighth anniversary at the spot.

You can try Clover’s eats from a food truck around the city, or at one of their permanent locations in Brookline, Harvard Square, East Cambridge, or Kendall Square. Their drinks are also on point—the hibiscus iced tea pairs perfectly with the rosemary fries. Lane Turner / The Boston Globe

The Clover food truck that started it all will serve its last sandwich at its original MIT location on Friday, almost eight years after it first parked at 20 Carleton St.Ayr Muir, MIT alum and the company’s founder/CEO, announced the news in a post on Clover’s website. The truck’s operation will cease due to MIT’s long-term construction in the Kendall Square area, where the truck has been stationed since 2008, according to Clover Food Lab’s communications director Lucia Jazayeri. I was hoping this wouldn’t happen, but also knew that it was only a matter of time,” Muir wrote in the post. “But as I reflect I also feel so lucky. Truth is we’re doing every single thing better now.”The company, which strives to “craft a fast food menu unlike anything you’ve come across before” using local and organic ingredients, according to Muir in 2008, has since added four additional food trucks to its repertoire and 10 permanent locations in the Boston area. One of those is a restaurant at 5 Cambridge Center (about 100 feet away from the truck’s parking spot at 20 Carleton St.). Muir also wrote in his post that Clover is working with MIT to find another location on campus. He told Boston.com that it has not yet been determined whether the same truck will be used should another location be decided upon.
