Chicken & Rice Guys is opening their first sit-down restaurant this weekend
From meals on wheels to meat in seats.
A staple of the Boston food truck scene is putting down roots in Medford.
Chicken & Rice Guys, the Middle Eastern halal-style food truck chain, will celebrate its new brick-and-mortar location at 64 Salem Street in Medford Square with a grand opening on President’s Day.
Senior operations manager Damian Yee says that the physical location was a logical next step for the company, as they follow in the footsteps of other local restaurants like Tenoch Mexican and Roxy’s Grilled Cheese that started with the comparatively low-capital investment of a food truck before establishing a dine-in spot.
The first 100 customers who visit the Medford location Monday will receive a free snack-sized plate of food, and one lucky visitor will find a gold coin underneath their tray that grants them free food for life.
For those unfamiliar, Chicken & Rice Guys offers a choice of chicken, lamb gyro, or fried tofu served with rice and a choice of several sauces.
Chicken & Rice Guys has been branching out in more ways than just new locations. The restaurant is working with a consulting chef to test out new menu items like falafel and pita fries, and the Chicken & Rice Guys Foundation has been partnering with several local organizations to increase their philanthropic efforts.
While Yee could not comment on specifics, he did say the company is looking to open more locations in the greater Boston area later this year.
