So many more Wahlburgers are coming. So many.
As in, more than 100.
Just a year after Wahlburgers mastermind Paul Wahlberg and CEO Rick Vanzura unveiled plans to open 27 more locations of the family-namesake burger joint, they’ve now disclosed a far more ambitious plan to add 100 to 150 new Wahlburgers in the next five years, Business Insiderreports.
That’s a whole lotta Wahlburgers. According to Business Insider, it seems the idea is to keep competing with other leading, fast-casual burger chains, such as Shake Shack and Five Guys. Shake Shack currently has 78 locations (including international spots) listed on its website. Five Guys’ website says it has over 1,000 locations in the U.S. alone.
Right now, in addition to its flagship spot in Hingham, Wahlburgers has four other locations: in Boston, Lynnfield, Toronto, and Brooklyn. A Manhattan spot is rumored to be coming really soon, as are spots in Orlando, Philadelphia, and Las Vegas.
Of course, Wahlburgers has two clear legs up that its competitors don’t have: a TV show and a celebrity name. That’s obviously not lost on Vanzura, who told Business Insider, “Mark and Donnie understand the importance of the show to the brand so they have done everything they can to promote the show.’’
