The Polar Seltzer 2015 summer flavors are out now

Polar’s 2015 summer seasonal seltzer flavors. Polar Beverages

For those who swear by the refreshing tingle of Worcester’s own Polar Seltzer beverages, the announcement of new seasonal flavors is a big one. Summer flavors are especially important, as a long day in the sun can instantly be rejuvenated with the proper virgin bubbly water cocktail.

Polar recently launched this summer’s line of limited edition specialty flavors, and we obviously had to try them all.

2015 Polar Summer Seltzer Flavors

Brand New: Tropical Mai Tai

What is a Mai Tai, you ask? It is a cocktail made with rum, lime juice, and Curacao. And what the heck is Curacao? It’s a liqueur made from the laraha fruit, of course. The one thing you need to know is that this one is a bit more subdued — but definitely the most adventurous — flavor. For those looking for a non-alcoholic comparison, it tastes somewhat like Starburst or other gummy candies.

Brand New: Strawberry Watermelon

“Inspired by summers in France,’’ according to a release, this flavor is full-bodied to the point where you can catch the scent directly after popping a bottle. It smells a bit like a Bubblicious bubble gum, but the taste itself is the strongest of the bunch and is easy to pick out both fruits individually. Because of such sweetness, this is possibly the best seltzer for mixing.

Brand New: Guava Mandarin

This one has yet to hit shelves, but we can only imagine that it’s at least as good as last year’s tropical seasonal flavor, Mango Papayan. The flavor is “inspired by Mexico, and the exotic sweetness of guava balanced with the tartness of mandarin,’’ according to the release. Look for it in stores in the coming week.

Back Now: Blueberry Lemonade

Blueberry Lemonade is one of two summer seasonals returning after success last summer. This flavor is slightly deceiving, with more blueberry than lemonade in scent, but the lemonade flavor manifests itself front and center. The beverage is most enjoyable by not being overly powerful.

Back Now: Pomegranate Sangria

This flavor also makes a grand return after delighting customers last summer. It is easily the most refreshing of the bunch, creating an easy task in draining a full bottle without growing sick of the flavor. The sangria taste doesn’t overpower, so protective parents take note: this is not a gateway beverage.
