In Greater Boston’s dining scene, there’s always a new restaurant opening to celebrate or a fresh update coming to one of the city’s delicious eateries. In the months ahead, we have major restaurant openings from Michelin chefs and famous New York restaurateurs, as well as a swell of diverse and delicious smaller restaurants joining our neighborhoods.

Each week, Boston.com will highlight the restaurant openings worth knowing about across the region. Some spots will already be open, while others are set to debut in 2026. At least one featured restaurant will always be a bonus item — either a pop-up, a collaboration, or event at area restaurants.

What’s new in Greater Boston restaurant openings this week

Alice and Monarch

The owner of Source in Cambridge, Daniel Roughan, is opening a restaurant-and-lounge duo in Kendall Square. Alice is a modern Italian taverna, and most of the menu is small plates and shareable dishes: for example, a raviolo with duck egg yolk and whipped ricotta, scallop ceviche, a selection of bread, and multiple meats and cheese options for charcuterie. For bigger plates, there’s pasta (squid ink linguine, mushroom and truffle risotto), mains like a chicken for two or a 16-ounce ribeye, and pizza. Located downstairs is Monarch, which will serve desserts and cocktails (no menu yet), with sweet dishes like a baked Alaska and a toasted bread ice cream that tastes like an affogato.

Blackbird Doughnuts and Sally’s Sandwiches

All of The Gallows Group concepts are coming together at a new Eastie location, bringing guests “full Blackbird, full Sally’s, with a sprinkling of the Gallows.” Bostonians now are probably familiar with Blackbird’s creative doughnuts and Sally’s specialty sandwiches and wraps, both with multiple locations. The Gallows, however, was a popular gastropub in the South End that closed in 2021, but owner Rebecca Roth Gullo said the former restaurant would make a comeback some time this year.

Kush Modern Mediterranean

Fans of Chopped champion Saba Wahid Duffy and of the former Kush by Saba food truck finally get to sit down and enjoy this Mediterranean spot after nearly two years of planning the Union Square location. One of their most popular dishes, the spicy mac and cheese with minced lamb, made the cut, and other menu items include sweet potato and feta croquettes, harissa and brown sugar braised beef over couscous, and a chai-spiced pot de creme for dessert.

Novo Marketplace

A food hall is coming to Allston, offering 16 different food vendors to guests looking for coffee, Indonesian cuisine, sushi, and more. Many of the vendors appear to be local, like Park’s Kitchen, which serves Tteokbokki and other Korean dishes. Others are chains opening their first Boston location, like the Hong Kong-based Cotti Coffee.

Uptown Social

Southern Hospitality is coming to Boston’s South End with a new concept from restaurateur Nia Grace. With executive chef Chelven Randolph at the helm, the menu features elevated Southern dishes, like fried chicken topped with caviar, cornmeal-battered haddock and grits with Creole cream, and lamb ribs with hush puppies. The beverage list includes craft cocktails (Uptown Punch, the Social Sangria in a pitcher), wine by the glass and the bottle, beer, and mocktails.
