In Greater Boston’s dining scene, there’s always a new restaurant opening to celebrate or a fresh update coming to one of the city’s delicious eateries. In the months ahead, we have major restaurant openings from Michelin chefs and famous New York restaurateurs, as well as a swell of diverse and delicious smaller restaurants joining our neighborhoods.
Each week, Boston.com will highlight the restaurant openings worth knowing about across the region. Some spots will already be open, while others are set to debut in 2026. At least one featured restaurant will always be a bonus item — either a pop-up, a collaboration, or event at area restaurants.

One of New York City’s favorite burgers is expanding to Boston with two restaurants serving its simple menu of cheeseburgers, Impossible burgers, and loaded fries. One location is open now on Newbury Street (though be prepared for a line), and another is coming soon to Southie.
Open now (Back Bay location); Opening date (South Boston location): April
267 Newbury St., Back Bay; 477 W. Broadway, South Boston

Greater Boston’s New Zealand ice cream shop is expanding again with a fourth location, perfect for Marathon Monday spectators and Boston College students looking for a treat. What makes New Zealand ice cream different is that it’s made by blended ice cream with real frozen fruit, but at Far Out, they also offer some very indulgent (and very American) toppings to go with their simple ice cream menu, like dark chocolate drizzle and graham cracker crumbs. Over email, co-founder August Radbill said he hopes they can open their Cleveland Circle location ahead of April 20.
Opening date: April
1930 Beacon St., Brighton
Norwood is getting an elevated neighborhood restaurant inside an old firehouse from co-owners Giuseppe Tropeano and Michelle Jewell. In an email, Jewell described the concept as “all-American with some Italian inspirations,” which can be seen in menu items like dirty-fried olives, house-made pizzas, bolognese, and steak frites. Gemma will also have cocktails, and its space can accommodate group gatherings and private events.
Opening date: Late April
171 Nahatan St., Norwood
Not technically a new opening, but Nirvana Tea House Cafe is reopening with new owners, Unity Farm Sanctuary. The cafe offers a plant-based menu of baked goods and breakfast and lunch foods (for example: an almond butter brownie, tahini avocado toast, and a bowl of stewed lentils and veggies), and the restaurant also serves a variety of teas both hot and iced.
Open now
969 Main St., Millis
Not that I need to say more after having typed out “all-you-can-eat” pierogi and kielbasa from Jaju Pierogi, a New England-based frozen pierogi brand that pops up often around Greater Boston. But the event, hosted at the Polish American Citizen Club of Boston, is also for a good cause, with proceeds from $39.19 ticket sales going toward the Polish American Women’s Scholarship.
Event details: April 9; two entries at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
82 Boston St., Dorchester
