It’s a good time to be a Greater Boston diner in 2025, with exciting and diverse restaurant openings occurring all over the metro area.
Each week, Boston.com will highlight the restaurant openings worth knowing about across the Greater Boston region. Some spots will already be open, while others are set to debut soon or later this year. At least one featured restaurant will always be a bonus item — either a pop-up, a collaboration, or event at area restaurants.

Filling the void left by La Voile in Washington Square is Capricho, which promises a fine-dining Colombian eatery offering wood-grilled prime cuts. They have late-night hours planned as well as live music. An owner confirmed with Boston.com that they were waiting to receive their liquor licenses before they open.

1627 Beacon St., Brookline
A beloved bakery from Portsmouth is expanding to Boston with a new Seaport location. This bakery and cafe is known for its menu of pastries, bread, and decadent cakes made with French technique but Mediterranean influence. The Seaport spot is currently in a soft opening phase, but look out for more permanent hours soon.

The Instagrammable hand rolls and cocktails have already made this French-Japanese izakaya a hot spot, with influencers sharing videos of smoky bubbles atop drinks and caviar-topped chicken nuggets. For now, the vibe-y izakaya is only accepting walk-ins.

31 Northern Ave., Seaport

True to its name, this ice cream parlour is dedicated to serving unusual flavor combinations. One flavor combines basil with balsamic-roasted strawberry, while another pairs cinnamon cornbread with blackberry jam. All ice cream is made in house and in small batches, according to the owner.

537 Columbus Ave., South End
Pickle fans, this week’s for you. There are still events to attend at Eastern Standard’s Pickle Week, with Friday offering game day pickle specials (for example, pickles on hot dogs). A patio pickle party is also taking place Saturday, complete with pickle snacks from Grillo’s Pickles and cornichon pickle gin martinis.
