Some North End restaurants are near impossible to walk into without a wait — and The Daily Catch is one of them. Soon diners won’t need to stand in line to get their favorite squid ink pasta (minus the classic pan).

On Sept. 4, the popular dining spot will open a takeout- and delivery-only window at 331 Hanover St., two doors down from its flagship location. The new window will offer “a curated menu of New England and Sicilian-style seafood classics,” including fried calamari, clam chowder, haddock sandwiches, and lobster rolls, according to a news release.

“We designed this compact kitchen to move fast and meet the rush of lunch and late-night crowds,” Dominic Freddura, youngest son of restaurant founders Paul and Maria Freddura, said in the release. “It’s a chance to reinvent how people access and experience our delicious seafood.”

The expansion, billed as “a quick street-food option,” is meant to keep up with high demand at their flagship, which is walk-in only and especially busy in the summer.

The takeout window will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., with extended hours until 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Freddura told Boston.com by email that he hopes to add later weekend hours once the new operation settles in.

The restaurant is also eyeing expansion to “other areas of Boston” and even teased its first West Coast location opening this fall.

The Daily Catch, which first opened in 1973, operates at 323 Hanover St. and on the waterfront at 65 Atlantic Ave. in the North End. Its Brookline location is currently closed for repairs.
