It’s a good time to be a Greater Boston diner in 2025, with exciting and diverse restaurant openings occurring all over the metro area. 

Each week, Boston.com will highlight the restaurant openings worth knowing about across the Greater Boston region. Some spots will already be open, while others are set to debut soon or later this year. At least one featured restaurant will always be a bonus item — either a pop-up, a collaboration, or event at area restaurants.

What’s new in Greater Boston restaurant openings this week

Doune & Pepe

The team behind Gourmet Kreyol was just awarded a highly-coveted, zip code-restricted liquor license for a new Caribbean sit-down restaurant. According to a recent Licensing Board meeting, the restaurant will serve a fusion of Haitian, Dominican, and Cuban food tapas-style, along with Caribbean drinks.

Estella

Among the slate of new restaurants coming to Patriot Place, the shopping center next door to Gillette Stadium, is the second location of downtown’s Estella. In an interview with Wicked Local, owners Lilian and George Brandao said guests can expect the same look and feel with the interior, as well as the same menu of modern American fusion food. 

Opening date: Summer 2025

NAMU Distilling Co.

Two scientists are bringing Bostonians the city’s first-ever Korean-American Soju distillery, using the Korean beverage in a rotating menu of craft cocktails, according to What Now Boston

The Essex

A restaurant and rooftop bar have moved into the Cambria Downtown Boston hotel from Kristin Jenkins, who also owns 1928 Beacon Hill. Behind the modern American menu at the Essex restaurant is Chef Polit Castillo, while Essex Rooftop features panoramic views of Boston and cocktails.

Bonus: Peppino’s Dosa new menu

A Moody Street Indian restaurant known for wide-ranging vegetarian menu has expanded its offerings for the more carnivorous diners. Even better for its vegan and vegetarian customers, the separate menus are made in separate kitchens, according to a press release.
