A longtime Cape Cod restaurant will close this spring.
The Naked Oyster on Main Street in Hyannis will close its doors for good in early June, owner and executive chef Florence Lowell announced Friday on Facebook.
The following is what Lowell wrote:
After 20 wonderful years, I’ve made the heartfelt decision to retire and close the doors of The Naked Oyster at the beginning of June.
This restaurant has been our passion, our dream, and our home.
We are incredibly grateful for the memories we’ve shared. From family dinners to milestone celebrations, we’ve been honored to serve you. Your support means the world to us, and we’re so grateful for the love you’ve shown us over the years.
To my loyal staff—past and present—thank you for your dedication, heart, and talent. You helped make The Naked Oyster the special place it is.
We invite you to visit us before our final service in early June, so we can share one more meal, one more hug, one more memory.
Lowell, a native of France and former Houston restaurant owner, bought the restaurant after moving to the Cape from Texas for her husband’s job, according to The Cape Cod Times.
The restaurant has its own oyster farm in Barnstable Harbor.
“These oysters, lovingly tended by her and her husband, are brought to the Naked Oyster, where they are opened to order and served with lemon, cocktail sauce, or French style, with the mignonette of the day,” according to the restaurant’s website.
The restaurant first opened in 2000, according to The Cape Cod Times.
