During the winter season, it can be tempting to hunker down indoors. We’re making the much more fun case to instead brave the chilly temps and warm up at a Greater Boston restaurant.

Some restaurants and bars in the region are offering ways to get through the cold season like lighting a fireplace, offering igloo seating, or adding a special warming dish or cocktail to their menu.

These restaurants are going to great lengths to keep customers warm, despite the fact that this time of year tends to be one of the slowest for your favorite local eateries, bars, and other businesses. Bostonians tend to hibernate on its chilliest days, and its typical across the country that people spend less post-holidays — including at restaurants.

We can’t make the commute any less chilly, but that’s what layers are for. Snag a seat by a fire or inside a cozy igloo, and feel warm and fuzzy knowing you patronized a local restaurant.
