The seafood restaurant in the Seaport was only open for a little over a year, but it received rave reviews from local media.

Hook + Line, the local seafood spot in the Seaport run by restaurateur Tom Schlesinger-Guidelli, has closed for good, one of the city’s first big restaurant closures just one day into the new year.

According to a press release from the restaurant owner, the staff served the last meal during brunch service on Jan. 1. The H + L Market, which sold seafood, condiments, and wine to-go, is also closed.

“I am proud of our team and of the hospitality we shared at both Hook + Line and H + L Market,” Schlesinger-Guidelli said. “It is no secret the thin line that restaurants walk with profitability, and even though we have created a beautiful and well-received restaurant, bar and market, it just isn’t sustainable for us to continue.”

Hook + Line — which served dishes like wood-grilled skate wing, fish and chips, stuffies, and chowder — was only open for a little more than a year, but it received rave reviews from local media.

It was among the top-50 restaurants in Boston Magazine. The Boston Globe also wrote positively about Schlesinger-Guidelli’s second restaurant in Boston, noting that the very commercial and chain-heavy Seaport was in need of more local options like Hook + Line

Schlesinger-Guidelli also owns Alcove in the West End, and he worked for his uncle, Chris Schlesinger, at the former East Coast Grill in Inman Square.
