They say local restaurants are always there for their communities, through the good and the bad. And for most Massachusetts voters waking up to election results that didn’t go their way, people may feel they need community now more than ever.
Just hours after the presidential race was called Wednesday morning, declaring a second Donald Trump victory, Greater Boston restaurants took to social media to offer food and a space to come together.
Our initial round-up is below, but Boston.com is accepting other entries now through the weekend. It can be an event that’s fun, or one that’s reflective, but it must include food specials or a food discount. E-mail [email protected] to be featured.
The Cambridge restaurant is hosting a “special dinner” on Wednesday, donating its profits made from sales this evening to Planned Parenthood. Reservations are recommended, but there is space for walk-ins, and those who can’t make it on Wednesday could instead buy a gift card to the restaurant.
The neighborhood restaurant in Cambridge typically hosts trivia on Wednesdays, but this Wednesday’s trivia is themed “turn-off-the-news trivia night.” There will also be specials for dinner service.
Eat your feelings with an order of bagels from this Medford shop. Bagel orders are open now for pick-up Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and some of the proceeds will go to local veteran charity Homes For Our Troops.
The shops that sell empanadas at Bow Market and Charles River Speedway, respectively, are offering $1 Mexican sodas and a “space to come scream” in light of the election results.
If you need community this week, this Jamaica Plain bakery is offering up their space whether or not you purchase a croissant. Go for WiFi, water, or just to be around people.
Drag Bingo is back at Vera’s in Union Square, this week with a theme: The Mourning After. It’s free to play and starts at 8 p.m.
If you happen to be on the Cape, maybe a laugh is just what you need post-election. The restaurant in Sandwich is hosting a post-election open mic, and entry is free.
The Bow Market wine bar is hosting a “community soup night” for those who want to hang out with neighbors and learn about community organizations looking for help and volunteers. The soup is free, by the way.
