Dunkin’ will debut three new coffee drinks on Wednesday — including a Shakerato

What's a Shakerato, you ask? Great question.

New drinks at Dunkin'
Meet Dunkin's three new beverages. Dunkin'

National Coffee Day takes place on Sunday, Sept. 29, but Dunkin‘ is celebrating early with the debut of three new drinks on Wednesday. The catch? You’ll only be able to find them at the coffee company’s Next Generation stores, which incorporate spruced-up details like a tap system that pours perpetually cold drinks (think nitro-infused cold brew and iced tea).

Dunkin’s futuristic outposts, which first launched in Quincy in January 2018, will be offering a café au lait, cold brew latte, and Shakerato beginning on Wednesday. Let’s break these beverages down.

The café au lait will feature Dunkin’s dark roast coffee mixed with steamed milk, and can be ordered hot or cold. The cold brew latte is made with a simple blend of concentrated cold brew and milk. And the Shakerato — arguably the most intriguing of the bunch — features two shots of espresso, sugar, and ice; when blended, it causes a thick layer of foam to settle on top.

These drinks aren’t the only new offers coming to Dunkin.’ Starting on Wednesday, the coffee shop will also be offering an afternoon espresso deal through the end of 2019: any medium-sized Dunkin’ latte, cappuccino, or Americano can be ordered for $2 from 2 p.m.–6 p.m. at participating locations.

And, of course, Dunkin’ is getting in on the National Coffee Day action on Sunday by offering a buy one hot coffee, get one free deal at participating Dunkin’ locations. You could be a lifesaver for a caffeine-dependent friend — or, you know, you could drink both of them yourself.
