Shaking Crab debuted a new location by the Boston Common on Tuesday.“We are really excited to come downtown,” said Kevin Duong, one of Shaking Crab’s founders. “As a Boston-born company we’ve dreamed of coming to downtown.”Unlike any of its other locations, the chain’s newest installment is two floors. “We’re not entirely sure how it will play out, but we’re hoping to make the downstairs area more of a bar lounge and have the dining room upstairs,” Duong said. “We’re going to be focused more heavily on wines in this location, based on the area.”
This location will also eventually expand on the lunch menu that premiered at the recently-opened Cambridge location. The afternoon offerings are still being finalized, but Duong said the menu will highlight po’boys and cater “to people who want Cajun food without the mess during lunch.”

To celebrate the opening, the chain is giving away free garlic noodles or fries with the purchase of a signature seafood boil to anyone who checks in on Facebook, Instagram, or Yelp through the end of the month.
Shaking Crab’s new downtown spot is open from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, from noon to 11 p.m. on Saturdays, and from noon to 10 p.m. on Sundays.
Shaking Crab also has locations in Newton, Quincy, and Porter Square in Cambridge, as well as three others in New York. Locations in Brookline and Providence, Rhode Island, are in early planning stages.
