Saloniki just opened a pita-filled location in Cambridge’s Central Square
It's the second spot for the fast-casual Greek eatery.
has dished out Greek food to Boston’s Fenway neighborhood for nearly a year. Beginning Tuesday, the restaurant is cooking up its fresh-to-order pitas, salads, and plates in a second location, this time in Cambridge’s Central Square.
James Beard Award-winning chef Jody Adams, who served as executive chef at Rialto for more than 20 years, opened the restaurant’s first location in March with partners Eric Papachristos and Jonathan Mendez. The Greek food is inspired by Papachristos’ hometown of Thessaloniki, Greece.

Guests at the second location will enjoy the same classic Greek combos as those available at the Fenway spot. There’s the The Despena, a mixture of zucchini-feta fritters, garlic yogurt, and herb salad. The Herc is a mixture of honey-garlic pork shoulder and spicy whipped feta.
Guests can also build their own meals, choosing either a pita, plate, or salad and filling it with goodies such as honey-garlic braised pork shoulder, spicy lamb meatballs, or zucchini-feta fritters, and smothering them with sauces like tzatziki or spicy whipped feta before adding toppings such as broken olive tapenade or preserved lemon.
New to Saloniki’s menu are a seasonal salad and soup. The Winter Kale Salad is full of red cabbage, carrots, dried cranberries, feta, and olives. The Lentil & Loukaniko soup features locally-made Greek sausage infused with orange, fennel, and white wine.

The new Central Square location, which is 2,200 square feet, seats 38 guests and will offer outdoor dining in the spring. Beginning later this month, guests will be able to preorder their food from the restaurant’s mobile app and use a special pickup area.
Diners can choose from several house-made beverages, as well as coffee from Barrington Coffee Roasters — unique to the new location. The owners say wine and beer will be served at the Cambridge spot later this year.
The restaurant, located at the base of the Novartis building at 181 Massachusetts Ave., is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
