Christopher Coombs, executive chef & owner of Boston Urban Hospitality and the winner of the Audience Choice award in 2015 for his duck confit grilled cheese and tomato soup, was also on hand to serve as the Boston host of the event.

Teigen, Legend, Lane, and Coombs moved from station to station with a crowd of Summit attendees. Elsewhere, other 2016 honorees mingled and chatted, taking advantage of an open bar with drinks from Sam Adams, Barefoot Wines, and Macallan. Many pulled out cameras to document the event, including Teigen and 21-year-old Vine star Logan Paul, who had a large video camera in hand.

Despite the presence of a fair number of notable figures, the main focus of the event was the food, and every chef’s booth was swarmed by crowds of people clamoring to taste dishes like Hattie B’s Hot Chicken chef John Lasater’s hot chicken jambonette with Tennessee fried peas, cornbread, and chow chow, and the five-grain autumnal focaccia from chef Laura Meyer, head chef of Tony’s Pizza Napoletana in San Francisco.

As the evening wound down, Lane, Schrager, and Teigen appeared on a balcony above the crowd to announce the night’s winners. In the savory category, Hobbs House Bakery’s Henry Herbert, who also stars on the British TV show The Fabulous Baker Brothers, won for his beef and truffle doughnut, while Tyler Malek of Salt and Straw took home the sweet title for his Ritz pie a la mode with fresh candied apples, toasted walnut ice cream, and Parmesan cheese. The Audience Choice winner for savory was Strand Bistro’s Kevin Fernandez for his arepa with braised beef short rib, guacamole, pico de gallo, and lime-scented crema, while Alexandra Clark of Bon Bon Bon won the sweet title for the hot mess bon, a deconstructed bon bon featuring a hot blend of melted chocolates and chased by a test tube of cold milk.
