A national wing chain just opened its first Massachusetts location

Wingstop is up and running in Medford, and could be opening a Boston restaurant this fall.

The first Massachusetts location of a nationwide wing chain opened its doors Wednesday.Wingstop, which was founded in Garland, Texas, in 1994 and has more than 850 locations in 40 states, debuted in Medford at 678 Fellsway Plaza. The restaurant’s menu features regular wings, boneless wings, and chicken tenders in 11 different flavors, as well as sides of French fries, beans, and coleslaw. According to a post on the restaurant’s Facebook page, along with traditional flavors like hickory smoked BBQ, teriyaki, and Hawaiian, customers can also get a limited-time Spicy Korean flavor.According to Boston Restaurant Talk, rumors of Wingstop moving into the Boston market first circulated in 2008. However, before Wednesday’s opening, Wingstop only had three New England locations, all in Connecticut.

Along with the Medford location, the Facebook page for Wingstop Boston says that a location in the Central Square neighborhood of East Boston is coming in the fall.
