A California chain is bringing sushi burritos and poke bowls to Somerville
Yep, you read that right: Sushi. Burritos.
Davis Square will soon be home to the first fast-casual poké restaurant—serving the super-popular raw fish and rice bowls–in the Boston area.
Pokéworks, a small chain with locations in California, New York, and soon Somerville (at 261 Elm St., according to its website), offers Hawaiian poké bowls filled with ahi tuna, salmon, or other fish, along with rice and seasonings.

Pokéworks also lets you build your own order and customize it as a bowl, salad, or “pokiritto,” aka a sushi burrito for which the fish and fillings are wrapped in seaweed. Some poké dishes can be found at sushi restaurants around Boston, but this will be the first fast-casual poké place with the “pokiritto” option.

New England Real Estate Journal confirmed that Pokéworks is moving into 261 Elm St., which used to be the address for the now-closed Chinese restaurant Dragon Garden. According to NERJ, Pokéworks plans to expand its Boston presence with locations in areas like the Seaport District, the Financial District, Downtown Crossing, and more.
Pokéworks is slated to open sometime in the fall, according to NERJ.
