These are Boston’s best neighborhoods for Halloween trick or treating
Key info for candy lovers (and their parents).
If you’re planning on hitting the streets of Boston for some trick or treating over the next few days, this candy-nabbing intel is for you.
In a new report, Zillow ranked the top 20 cities in the country for trick or treating, determining “the safest cities to trick or treat, where trick-or-treaters can get the best candy, in the least amount of time,” based on four factors: home values, how close homes are to each other, crime rates, and the shares of population under 10 years old.
While Boston came in at number seven on last year’s list, the city earned the 21st spot this year, just missing the cutoff. (Philadelphia came in at number one, with San Jose, California; San Francisco; Milwaukee; and Los Angeles all scoring high, as well.) Boston specifically fell short compared to other cities in the share of population under 10 years old.
But don’t fear, Boston trick-or-treaters! The city has plenty of neighborhoods where you are sure to find your share of sugary goodies.
In the Zillow report, West Roxbury ranked as the top Boston neighborhood in which to go candy hunting on Halloween. Charlestown, Bay Village, Hyde Park, Beacon Hill, and the South End also all ranked high on the Boston-specific list, while student-heavy neighborhoods, such as Allston, Kenmore, and Fenway, ranked at the bottom of the list.
