Boston restaurateur Brian Piccini announced Tuesday that his acclaimed steakhouse Boston Chops is for sale. Piccini, who owns Boston Urban Hospitality — the restaurant group behind Boston Chops Downtown, Boston Chops South End, Deuxave, and dbar — said he plans to focus on a new development in Weston called The Woods.
According to a press release, Piccini says the nature-inspired dining concept will require “all of my focus, creativity, and passion.” The restaurant has cleared “major regulatory milestones” from and will begin permitting and construction.
“This isn’t just another restaurant for me. This is a project that hasn’t been done in Weston since Prohibition,” said Piccini. “The chance to create a dining experience that’s more connected to nature and its surroundings is incredibly exciting, especially in a place with such rich history.”
Boston Chops first opened in the South End in 2013. The award-winning restaurant later opened a Downtown Boston location in 2018. In 2024, Boston Chops received a Best of Boston award for Best Neighborhood Best, Downtown from Boston magazine. It has been recognized by Robb Report, Boston magazine, Wine Spectator, and Modern Luxury as one of the nation’s best steakhouses.
Boston Chops will remain fully operational while Piccini seeks new ownership or partnership opportunities, according to the release.
“I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve built at Chops,” he said. “It’s strong, stable, and beloved by guests across the city. But now it’s time to pass the torch so I can focus on creating something entirely new.”
