Pescador, the seafood restaurant from the Blue Ribbon Restaurants, has closed after more than a year of serving diners in Kenmore Square, the restaurant group announced.
The restaurant, which was seafood-focused and inspired by international cuisine from Latin America to Portugal, was one of three restaurants in Kenmore Square owned by the Blue Ribbon restaurant group — the other two being Blue Ribbon Sushi and the newer Boston location of Blue Ribbon Brasserie.

Pescador closed on Monday, reports Boston Magazine. On the restaurant’s website, a pop-up note said the decision to close “was made with careful consideration and reflects the challenges and dynamics of the restaurant industry.”
“We want to assure our guests and the community that we have taken steps to ensure the well-being of our employees, with efforts to reassign them to other restaurant locations within our network,” the statement said. “We are committed to supporting our team through this transition.”
Pescador opened its doors in late 2022, the second of the Blue Ribbon projects at Hotel Commonwealth and taking over the space once inhabited by Island Creek Oyster Bar. At the time of opening, Eric and Bruce Bromberg told Boston.com that the Pescador concept was “unique to Boston,” unlike the multiple locations of the brasserie and sushi restaurants.
Blue Ribbon Sushi had opened months earlier in 2022, while Blue Ribbon Brasserie took over the Eastern Standard space in late 2023.
The Blue Ribbon takeover at Hotel Commonwealth had been in the works since at least 2021, after three restaurant spaces had opened up during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The statement Monday urged Pescador patrons to visit the nearby brasserie, which features a raw bar, steak, and their specialty fried chicken.
“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has been a part of Pescador’s story,” the statement said. “Your support and patronage have meant the world to us. As we close this chapter, we look forward to exploring new opportunities and continuing to serve the Boston community in other capacities.”
