This year’s Fenway Park Bacon & Beer Festival will feature more than 40 restaurants
It’s back: Tickets are currently on sale for the eighth annual Bacon & Beer Festival, slatedfor May 13 atFenwayPark. This year, 46 vendors are signed up to participate—the most-ever in the fest’s history, according to festival founder and Gracie’s Ice Cream owner Aaron Cohen. New this time around are City Tap House, Uni, Island Creek Oyster Bar, Blue Ribbon BBQ, Larry J’s BBQ Cafe, The Smoke Shop, Superfine Food, Heritage of Sherborn, The Townshend, En Boca, Tapestry, Lion’s Tail, and Woods Hill Table. Once again, the restaurants will serve up bacon-inspired dishes. In the past, participants have nibbled on bacon cotton candy, pecan sandies with bacon, mashed potato bacon, bacon mac and cheese, bacon bao, bacon-bit fluff cones, and bacon-wrapped sanora dog, Cohen said. This year, the vendors will use meat from long-time local establishment—and Julia Child’s former butcher—Savenor’s Butcher & Market, Cohen said. This is the first year the Beacon Hill and Cambridge meat shop will sponsor the event. As far as beer goes, attendees will find the brews already sold at Fenway, plus ones from 15 special regional breweries, which will be announced in mid-April. A ticket gets you eight 3-ounce samples from any of the brewers present. You can also buy full pints of Fenway-housed beers while you’re there.

In 2016, Gracie’s served chocolate and whisky ice cream on sugar cones lined with Fluff and bacon bits.
The event takes place in the concourse under the bleachers, said Cohen, who started the fundraiser in 2010. The festival has been held at Fenway Park the last two years.
Aside from food and drinks, attendees can dance along to music on the loud speakers and check out the World Series trophies. VIP tickets, new to this year’s event, include tickets to the Red Sox game later that day.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Red Sox Foundation, the official charity of the Red Sox, as well as Community Servings and Lovin’ Spoonfuls.
