Boston Common Costume Dash 5K

If you’re a fitness nut who loves any excuse to wear your Halloween costume as much as possible, the Boston Common Costume Dash 5K is the perfect event. Once the fun run is over, you can stop into a number of Back Bay bars for a post-race party sponsored by Harpoon. (Saturday, October 29 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.; Copley Square; $45; all ages)

Coolidge Corner Theatre Horror Movie Marathon

If you couldn’t manage to snag tickets to Nosferatu with a live orchestra at the Brattle Theatre, the Coolidge will step up to the plate for horror movie fans with a 12-hour marathon, starting at midnight with Scream and Scream 2. Like any good horror film director, the Coolidge is building the suspense by keeping the next four films in the marathon a secret until they hit the screen. (Sunday, October 30 from 12 a.m. to 12 p.m.; Coolidge Corner Theatre; $25 for a double feature, $30 for all six films; all ages)

Halloween Pet Parade and Costume Contest

If the adorable pups at the Canine Promenade weren’t enough for you, there’s another costumed pet event happening this weekend, this time at Faneuil Hall Marketplace. There will be prizes for Best of Show, Best Owner & Pet Combo, Best Local Representation, and Most Creative. Registration and viewing are both free. (Saturday, October 29 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.; Faneuil Hall Marketplace; free; all ages)

SoWa Spooktacular

The final SoWa open market of the year will be one giant Halloween celebration. Along with the usual 150-plus artists showcasing their creative works, there will be pumpkin painting, live music, beer and wine, and four separate costume contests (for humans, pets, vendors, and trucks) with hundreds of dollars in prizes up for grabs. (Sunday, October 30 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; 460 Harrison Ave.; free; all ages)

Cambridge Brewing Company’s Great Pumpkin Festival

The Kendall Square brewpub is holding its annual celebration of everything pumpkin with three separate sessions on Saturday. A ticket gets you a commemorative glass and six food or drink tokens, which can be used on any of the beers CBC has curated from across the nation. The evening session is the most popular one, and is the only time slot featuring the Pumpkin Processional, during which CBC monks lead a gigantic beer-filled pumpkin around the bar and outdoor patio area. (Saturday, October 29 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., or 8 p.m. to 12 a.m.; Cambridge Brewing Company; $30 for Sessions 1 or 2, $35 for Session 3; all ages for Sessions 1 and 2, 21+ for Session 3)

Dia de los Muertos at Taza Chocolate

The Somerville chocolatier famous for its Mexican stone-ground chocolate is holding a party to celebrate the Mexican Day of the Dead. Along with free samples of Taza hot chocolate and other goodies, there will be Mexican cuisine from four different local restaurants, performances from two Hispanic youth arts organizations, and beverages from Bantam Cider, Slumbrew, and Longfellows Cambridge. (Saturday, October 29 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.; Taza Chocolate; free; all ages)

Halloween on the Harbor 2016

Going door to door for treats isn’t just for kids. At the seventh annual Halloween on the Harbor, adults can dress up in costumes, hop between 15 of the Seaport District’s bars and restaurants — either on foot or in a free Duck Boat — and enjoy food, drink, and games throughout. Proceeds from the $10 tickets will benefit Friends of the Fort Point Channel. (Friday, October 28 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.; registration at TAMO Bistro & Bar; $10; 21+)

PRU BOO Charity Trick-or-Treating

If your child wants to get some trick or treating in before October 31, the Prudential Center is hosting its annual charity trick-or-treat event, during which more than 50 stores will be passing out treats. The two hours of treat collecting will also be followed by a kids’ concert on the Center’s South Lawn, and the $4 fee for a special treat bag will benefit Horizons for Homeless Children. (Sunday, October 30 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.; Prudential Center; $4 charitable donation; all ages)

Halloween Weekend at Boston Children’s Museum

Unfortunately for all you adults out there, the museum’s popular grown-ups night on October 27 is already sold out. But if you’re looking for family fun, the museum will have a full weekend of trick-or-treating throughout the exhibits, as well as activities like face painting, mask making, and a Monster Mash Dance Party on Friday night. (Friday, October 28 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday through Monday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Boston Children’s Museum; $16; all ages)

Boston Halloween Bike Ride

If you find yourself indulging in a few too many Halloween treats, be it candy or some sort of Halloween-themed beverage, you can work it off with the 17th annual Boston Halloween Bike Ride, which will be rolling through Copley Square on Halloween night, before concluding with an outdoor dance party at a secret location. (Monday, October 31 at 7 p.m.; Copley Square; free; all ages)
