An all-you-can-eat ice cream festival is happening now at City Hall Plaza
Scooper Bowl 2016 officially kicked off on Tuesday.
The Scooper Bowl—as in, the enormous, annual all-you-can-eat ice cream festival in City Hall Plaza—is back. Which means, as of right now, you have two-and-a-half days to head downtown and indulge in as much ice cream as you can possibly stomach, and to do it for charity.

The Scooper Bowl benefits the Jimmy Fund, an organization that raises money for cancer care and research at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. It also benefits ice cream-loving Bostonians.

Participants shared their excitement and glee online after attending the event on its opening day. The Scooper Bowl features flavors from 10 of the nation’s favorite ice cream makers. Ben & Jerry’s was on hand to scoop up Cherry Garcia and Totally Baked, Edy’s served up Fudge Tracks and Rocky Road, and Friendly’s handed out Rockin’ Poppin’ Cotton Candy and Salted Caramel Blondie Brownie Blast, just to name a few brands and flavors.

As is tradition, attendees shared photos of themselves holding stacks of empty ice cream cups to show off just how many scoops they ate—it’s a medal of honor, of sorts.

The Scooper Bowl takes place Tuesday through Thursday from noon to 8 p.m. at Boston City Hall Plaza. Entry is $15 for adults and $10 for children aged 3-9. Children under 3 get in for free.
