Blackbird Doughnuts in the South End is no stranger to positive publicity. But on Thursday morning, it achieved something that few pastry shops can claim: Adele-level buzz. While performing at TD Garden on Wednesday night, the Grammy-winning singer reportedly raved about the shop’s Boston creme bismarck doughnuts.

Hours later, legions of devoted fans demolished Blackbird’s inventory. Owner Rebecca Roth Gullo told The Boston Globe that the store was emptied of Adele’s choice doughnut by 9 a.m.

“Every other customer that joined us [Thursday] morning had either been at the concert or read something about the concert,” Anna Perna, Blackbird’s head baker, told the Globe.

Even though Roth Gullo also owns celebrity-approved and James Beard Award-nominated establishments like The Gallows and Banyan Bar + Refuge, she definitely wasn’t immune to Adele’s star power.

“Can I tell you we are major Adele fans?” Roth Gullo told the Globe. “We’re just totally awestruck.”

She also mentioned that Blackbird had arranged to send some treats Adele’s way prior to her concert Thursday night, and was planning on increasing its Boston creme stock this weekend in anticipation of more fan-fueled business.
