Harpoon Brewery opened in downtown Manchester, New Hampshire, on Friday, bringing New England’s original IPA to its newest home at Queen City Center.
It is Harpoon’s third brewery location and its first in the Granite State, which will be situated at 215 Canal St., next door to the historic former R.G. Sullivan Cigar Company building, according to the company’s website.
The approximately 9,000-square-foot space will feature a restaurant and taproom seating 215 people, a sleek bar that accommodates 50 people, and two private event spaces, according to a release. An outdoor beer garden and deck will feature an additional seating capacity of just over 80.
The brewery will feature 20 tap lines, an array of craft beers, as well as cocktails and wine. A food menu will include snacks, small plates, bar pies, large plates, a kid’s menu and weekend brunch offerings.
“Harpoon has die-hard fans across the Northeast and beyond,” said Charlie Storey, vice president of special events and brewery festivals for Harpoon, in the release. “We’re excited to give craft beer lovers an exciting new public house destination.”
He continued, “The space is fantastic, and we can’t wait to welcome the community.”
According to the release, General Manager John Maggs will offer a variety of contemporary American dishes while paying homage to Manchester’s rich culinary heritage, including the Tender Town Tower (since it is the chicken tender capital of the world).
The restaurant will also feature a bar pie, a thin, pan-cooked pizza known for its “laced” edges, which are crispy and caramelized with cheese.
Harpoon posted on Instagram that the location is now open to the public. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Harpoon Brewery was founded in 1986 and became the first brewery to brew commercially in Boston after a dormant period of approximately 25 years. Since then, it has expanded beyond the Seaport District in Boston, with additional locations in Windsor, Vermont, a Boston Common Summer pop-up, and Logan Airport.
