Could Timothée Chalamet be reprising his role as Bob Dylan on an upcoming episode of “Saturday Night Live”?

Chalamet will be pulling double duty on the January 25 episode of “SNL,” serving as both host and musical guest following the release of his Bob Dylan biopic, “A Complete Unknown.”

According to Deadline, Chalamet will perform as Dylan on the long-running variety show, though that was not confirmed by NBC as of Friday afternoon.

“SNL” also announced that comedian Dave Chappelle will host the January 18 episode, with musical guest Glorilla.

Chalamet’s performance as Dylan in “A Complete Unknown” has garnered plenty of awards season plaudits. The actor earned Golden Globe, Critics Choice, and Screen Actors Guild nominations, and also won Best Actor prizes from more than a dozen critic groups, including the Boston Society of Film Critics and the Chicago Film Critics Association.

You have to go all the way back to the 1970s to find an “SNL” episode in which a non-musician (or at least non-professional musician) served as both “SNL” host and musical guest, when Lily Tomlin did so in the show’s sixth episode. (Deion Sanders performed two awful songs while hosting in 1995, but Bon Jovi was the official musical guest.)

Despite Chalamet spitting bars in his bedroom and alongside Pete Davidson in “SNL” sketches, Deadline’s report that Chalamet will perform as Dylan makes more sense than an appearance from Lil Timmy Tim or a full-length song from SmokeCheddaDaAssGetta.
