Showtime renews ‘City on a Hill’ for season 2
The crime drama, set in 1990s Boston, will finish out its freshman run on Aug. 18.
Showtime is extending its stay in Boston.
“City on a Hill” will return for a second season, the premium cable network announced Friday.
The crime drama, set in 1990s Boston, will finish out its freshman run on Aug. 18; it premiered to solid numbers and mostly positive reviews back in June.
Kevin Bacon, attempting his best Boston accent, leads the cast as Jackie Rohr, a corrupt FBI veteran who – alongside a hard-charging assistant district attorney (Aldis Hodge) – hunts for a family of armored car robbers from Charlestown (Jonathan Tucker, Mark O’Brien and Jimmy Cummings) in a case with potentially wide-reaching implications for the city’s criminal justice system.
“’City on a Hill’ is that addictive kind of meaty and messy show we love at Showtime,” said Gary Levine, co-president of entertainment for Showtime Networks, in an official statement. “With the inspired pairing of Kevin Bacon and Aldis Hodge and the inspired writing of Tom Fontana and Chuck MacLean, we believe there is a rich future for this compelling series.”
Ben Affleck and Matt Damon serve as executive-producers on “City on a Hill.”
