One of the most Boston movies ever is being made into a television series—but it won’t be set in the city that gave the movie its claim to fame.

The Departed, the Oscar-winning 2006 Martin Scorsese film about a South Boston Irish mob, is getting a TV series reboot through Amazon Studios, according to a Deadline report.

Vertigo Entertainment, Initial Entertainment Group, and Plan B Entertainment — all of whom also produced the 2006 movie — will also be involved in the project. Roy Lee, executive producer to the movie, hinted a TV adaptation was in the works in March.

The new crime show is set in Chicago “amidst the shifting tides of warring ethnic drug gangs,” Deadline reports. The show is said to center on a young undercover cop who infiltrates a Latino gang, while the gang puts one of their own on the police department.

The movie’s famed actors, like Leonardo DiCaprio, Mark Wahlberg, and Matt Damon won’t be involved in the new project, according to Lee.
