The Late Show’s Stephen Colbert welcomed two guests from cable TV’s past on Monday’s episode: Jon Stewart and “Stephen Colbert.”

“Did you miss me? I know I did,” Colbert said, stepping into his former alter-ego “Colbert,” the half-witted, right-winged, satirical persona he once channeled on Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report. “Well, it’s time to say aloha to Stephen Colbert, and aloha to ‘Stephen Colbert.’”

The host resurrected his political character for the kickoff of The Late Show’s live coverage of the Republican National Convention in Cleveland. With the return of “Colbert” came the revival of The Colbert Report’s popular recurring bit “The Word,” a parody of a segment from The O’Reilly Factor.

“This is just the brave new world of American democracy, and it brings me to tonight’s ‘word’: ‘Trumpiness,’” said “Colbert.” “Remember, elections aren’t about what voters think, it’s about what voters feel.”

Stewart, the former host of The Daily Show, later joined both the actual Colbert and the character “Colbert” for a sketch that follows actual Colbert seeking Stewart out at his cabin in the woods, where he’s been isolated since retiring.

After learning that Trump won the Republican nomination, rather than Jeb Bush, Stewart seems, well, surprised:
