The Emmy nominations are full of predictability (‘Game of Thrones’) and shockers (‘The Americans’)
See the list of noms here.
Emmy nominations were announced live from the Wolf Theatre in Hollywood Thursday morning by Black-ish‘s Anthony Anderson and Gilmore Girls‘s Lauren Graham — and boy, is this year’s pool of noms a doozy.
Though HBO leads the pack for the 16th year with the most nominations out of any network (this year it scored 94 nominations; last year it received a record-breaking 126), the TV Academy gave lots of nominations to FX (56 noms), Netflix (54), AMC (24), Showtime (22), Amazon (16), and USA (six). The wide swath of networks —AMC, FX, HBO, PBS, Netflix, Showtime, USA—included in the Outstanding Drama Series category alone is pretty impressive.
Game of Thrones scored the most nominations of any series with 23. (Last year it received 24.) The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story came in a close second with 22, and Fargo wasn’t too far behind with 18.
