Sunday’s Tony Awards featured entertaining selections from both revivals and new musicals, but one particular performance felt a bit closer to home than the rest.

Two stars linked to the musical Waitress, actress Jessie Mueller and composer/lyricist Sara Bareilles, as well as the cast of the Tony-nominated show, took the Tonys stage to perform “Opening Up” and “She Used to Be Mine” from the Broadway production.

Waitress began at Harvard University’s American Repertory Theater and scored four Tony nominations this year. The musical is based on the 2007 movie starring Keri Russell and Nathan Fillion.
