Saturday Night Live mocks Game of Thrones’ handling of Jon Snow
Spoilers below for anyone who hasn't watched through Season 6, Episode 2.
It appears the writers of Saturday Night Live did not have much patience for TV’s worst-kept secret and most-anticipated plot twist.
Even if Game of Thrones didn’t particularly drag its feet in bringing Jon Snow back to life just two episodes after his death, it certainly may have felt like the climax of last’s week’s episode “Home” lasted forever.
First, however, SNL mocked the off-season insistence of those behind the show that Snow, one of Game of Thrones‘ main protagonists, really was, in fact, dead.
“I think with this one we just leave him out for a few days on this slab, so that everyone can see how dead he really is,” affirmed Taran Killam as Ser Davos.
Meanwhile, two bystanders played by Cecily Strong and Saturday’s host, Brie Larson, perhaps channeling every Game of Thrones fan, complained about how long the process was taking.
“We only get 10 hours of this a year, people, and we spend two in this room,” said Larson.
Even upon the entrance by Melisandre, they weren’t satisfied with the pace of the resurrection.
“You guys must feel how slow this is,” interjected Strong.
Neither, apparently was Snow himself, who repeatedly popped up mid-way through the drawn-out resurrection.
In all fairness, if bringing people back to life were quick and easy on Game of Thrones, at this point, Westeros might be dealing with a severe overpopulation crisis.
