Katie Nolan calls out the NFL, defends her football coach crush on Late Night with Seth Meyers
Thursday night, Boston native and host of FOX Sports 1’s Garbage TimeKatie Nolan took a turn being a guest on another show last night, Late Night with Seth Meyers.
Nolan is known for infusing her commentary with comedy — “Are we a sports show that’s funny, or are we a funny show about sports?’’ she’s wondered to The Boston Globe — but she’s also known for not holding back when it comes to examining serious issues, such as domestic violence in the NFL.
On Thursday’s Late Night episode, Meyers commended Nolan on her candor and asked what she would ask Roger Goodell right now if she had the chance.
“What’s your deal, bro?’’ Nolan said, before adding that she would ask about what he’s specifically doing to address the issue of domestic violence.
“I think there’s so much that the NFL does that’s about optics, that’s about making it look like they’re doing something,’’ Nolan said.
Meyers told Nolan, “I’m really proud that there are people like you calling them out on that and I think there needs to be more [women’s] voices in sports. … But you mention optics, and I want to make sure nothing’s wrong with your optics.’’
Meyers then pulled up photos of Rob Ryan, assistant head coach for the Buffalo Bills.
“You believe he is a handsome man,’’ Meyers said.
“Uh, yes,’’ Nolan replied. “I’m sorry — the handsome-est man.’’
Meyers continued to laugh at Nolan’s crush, but she didn’t care.
“Look at that flow,’’ she said.
