Chris Pine feels ‘privileged’ to play a Massachusetts hero in The Finest Hours

He talked about it on The Late Show.

In the words of Stephen Colbert on The Late Show Wednesday night, some heroes aren’t “super’’; rather, they’re “human-sized heroes.’’ Chris Pine said his character, Bernie Webber, in The Finest Hours — a Chatham-set movie about a ship rescue, which hits theaters January 29 — is the latter type of hero.

Pine also told Colbert that Webber is just a “regular Joe’’ who “clocks in like a lot of us do and just goes and does his job.’’

Webber’s job happens to be one that requires setting out to sea in a Nor’easter to save more than 30 guys from a sinking tanker boat. So sure, a regular Joe.
