Jimmy Fallon cracked a joke about that Massachusetts mailman who can’t shake a gang of turkeys

Something something Republicans.

News of the Cape Cod mailman who has to wrangle a gang of turkeys with a big stick during his morning route has reached the late-night stage. During his opening monologue on Monday’s episode of The Tonight Show, Jimmy Fallon gave the Massachusetts mailman a shout-out.

Fallon first mentioned that the UPS was having trouble keeping up with the holiday demand (“Bad news for people who mailed their Christmas present, great news for people who didn’t and want to lie about it,’’ he said.) before lodging into the unlucky Cape Cod postal worker’s story:

“Meanwhile, a mailman in Massachusetts has had to start carrying a big stick around to protect himself on his route because he keeps getting attacked by wild turkeys,’’ he said.

“This is real, check this out,’’ Fallon said before playing the YouTube clip in which the anonymous mailman maneuvers around turkeys on Falmouth simply saying, “Every day.’’

“Republicans were like, ‘That’s what happens when President Obama pardons criminals,’’ Fallon said.

OK, Fallon, it wasn’t your best joke, but thanks for the local love.
