Boy-bander/actor Joey McIntyre to star in TV show about being a boy-bander/actor

But will it have all the right stuff?

After the sad and very quick conclusion of his previous Boston-set CBS sitcom The McCarthys, Joey McIntyre — area dreamboat and New Kids on the Block boy-bander — is now getting his own TV show.

Deadlinereports Pop, the TV network that brought us NKOTB reality series Rock This Boat: New Kids on the Block earlier this year, is working on a “half-hour improv-style comedy series’’ starring McIntyre as a fictionalized version of himself. McIntyre, fellow NKOTB’er Donnie Wahlberg, and Wahlberg’s wife/TV personality Jenny McCarthy are named executive producers.

The premise of the show? According to Deadline, “The show catches up with Joey in an attempt to branch out from his New Kids on the Block fame and continue towards his goal of becoming a serious actor.’’

He ends up taking a gig as a cable talk show host. The show follows TV host McIntyre as he juggles his job and his hectic family life.

So, basically, it’s Full House. With potential for special musical episodes.
