Ryan Seacreat’s former American Idol co-host, Brian Dunkleman, has weighed in on the singing show’s cancellation in hilarious fashion.
“I knew American Idol would never last without me #CANCELLED,’’ the actor and comedian tweeted. The joke has since been retweeted and favorited over 5,000 times in total.
Dunkleman followed it up with several more humorous tweets, such as “Retweeted by [Josh Groban] and [Jason Biggs]. It’s all happening. #WormTurning.’’ He also tweeted, “And Tom Brady gets suspended?!? It’s like Christmas morning! #BestDayEver #BILLS.’’

Dunkleman left American Idol after one season to pursue acting and comedy. Unfortunately for him, the show went on to become one of the most popular shows on TV and made Seacrest a millionaire.

Fox announced Monday that Idol’s upcoming fifteenth season would be its last.
“It was not an easy decision,’’ Fox TV Group co-chairman and CEO Gary Newman said, calling Idol a “vital part’’ of Fox’s success in the new millennium.

“We really wanted to do it in a way that felt special and celebratory,’’ he explained, adding that they never really considered moving it back to summer. “The right way to send this show out is … in the time period it’s had for the last few years.’’
