CNN’s ‘Too Many Cooks’ Tastes Like Boston

It takes a lot to reheat the Internet’s favorite stew.

Former presidential candidate Vermin Supreme. CNN

You remember “Too Many Cooks,’’ right? The epic piece of Adult Swim surrealism was “generally breaking people’s brains’’ back in November.

Four months is usually enough to kill a viral joke, but CNN decided to rehash the gag, replacing Smarf, the serial killer, and the rest of the gang, with potential and past presidential candidates.

Guess what? It works.

Even any Bostonians who care for nothing and nobody outside of Interstate 495 will delight in the plethora of local pols who made the cut in CNN’s reheated stew. Most viewers will catch Elizabeth Warren, Mitt Romney, and a forever-windsurfing John Kerry. Other locals include Vermont’s Howard Dean, New Hampshire’s Stephen Breyer (remember when people angry about his vote in the Kelo decision tried to take his summer home by eminent domain?), and Vermin Supreme, the 2012 presidential candidate National Journal described as “some sort of demented Santa Claus.’’

Not enough local flavor for you? David Axelrod was a consultant for former Gov. Deval Patrick.

One glaring omission among the local pols marinating in this stew: Michael Dukakis. Omitting a clip of the Duke’s infamous tank ride from the video is akin to forgetting the salt.
