Chris Rock Riffs on Boston Marathon Bombing, 9/11 in ‘Saturday Night Live’ Monologue
Chris Rock returned to “Saturday Night Live’’ and wasted no time creating some controversy in an opening monologue that included jokes about the Boston Marathon bombings and the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center.
Rock begins referencing the Boston bombings at about the 1:05 mark in the above clip, and said first that he loves Boston and its people, then referred to the bombings as “frightening’’ and “sadistic.’’
Rock then joked about the irony of how, after running 26 miles, some of the runners at the finish line were urged to “run’’ when the bombs exploded.
He closed the bit by saying that the “good people of Boston bounced back.’’
Rock immediately went into another bit about New York City’s Freedom Tower, questioning why another structure was built in the same spot as the World Trade Center towers, adding that he’ll never go inside the new tower.
