Watch Jimmy Fallon Riff on the Old State House’s Time Capsule Discovery

Jimmy Fallon brought out the Nicolas Cage impersonation for a joke about the Old State House’s time capsule. The Tonight Show, via Hulu

As part of his stand-up on The Tonight Show, Jimmy Fallon added his own take to the recent news that a 1901 time capsule was found in the Old State House’s golden lion statue.

On his Thursday night show, Fallon first made fun of the Red Sox and Yankees baseball struggles this season before launching into a zinger on the historical discovery.

“Speaking of Boston, historians up there discovered a 113-year-old time capsule hidden inside a lion statue on top of the Old State House … And Nicolas Cage is already calling his agent.’’

Fallon then went into his Nic Cage impersonation, mocking his odd voice and mannerisms.

“The treasure is in the lion. We gotta get to the treasure. Get to the lion head.’’

Sadly, it’s not the most original joke about the time capsule news. Bostonians have been riffing on the “National Treasure 3’’ possibilities since the time capsule’s existence first came up early this month, including this would-be movie poster.
